A Pillar Of Self-care: Recreation

Missing the pursuit of pre-COVID  recreation, and reminding myself that I’m here. I’m alive, and I get to keep dreaming of doing the things I’ve always wanted to do. My mission in this life is to live my purpose, which in part includes recreation and fun. Happy stuff. I was born to have fun. I’m a free spirit  and a bit wild at times. And as someone who likes being in her head space, recreation shifts my focus to my heart space and that always feels good. Stretching that muscle.

I’m looking forward to the fun of getting back on a motorbike. Prior to COVID I was taking lessons. I passed the written test but failed the road test. God knows. I was disappointed but totally ok with the outcome because I knew I was not ready. I’m still not ready. But I will be.

Getting on a bike, in the driver’s seat was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done in my life. I only learned to properly ride a bicycle about 10 years ago. The instructor said, put on your gear, get on the bike and listen. My heart was pounding so loudly, I could hear it. I said Dixie, you can do this. So I listened, followed directions, fell several times but got up and continued. By the end of the day. I was riding a bike. A fairly big one too.

I’m awaiting the day when I can hop onto my very own @vespa and hit these local streets. Dream big, small, medium sized. Heck, dream any size. Dream of things you want to do, and if you’re able and have the opportunity, do them.

What’s something you’ve always wanted to do but have been too scared to do it? Share in the comments below.

I'm a teacher, beauty/wellness founder, and Qigong Instructor. My work exists to support women and people experiencing the menopausal transition on their health and wellness journey. I believe in the sacredness, wholeness, and expansiveness of well-being and the menopausal passage, and I care deeply about teaching and creating experiences and safe spaces that provide support.
